Emmanuel Macron has secured commitments for an additional 200,000 tonnes of diesel per month from the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, the French presidency said before his arrival in Qatar. Including Saudi deliveries, France now has commitments for 295,000 tonnes a month, just over 10 percent of its consumption. Kuwait has also made commitments to supply diesel and kerosene to Mayotte and Réunion, with shipments routed via Oman to avoid the Strait of Hormuz. Macron’s Gulf tour follows protests in France over the cost of living, as the US-Iran war keeps energy prices high.
