Maddison shines as Tottenham claim long-awaited first Premier League win

James Maddison scored in the 14th minute on his return to Tottenham’s starting line-up after 17 months away, helping Spurs beat Coventry 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Jack Rudoni equalised early in the second half, but Omar Marmoush restored Tottenham’s lead and Ben Davies sealed the win in added time. Roberto De Zerbi’s side, bottom of the table before kick-off, claimed their first league victory of the season. Dejan Kulusevski, also sidelined for 17 months, returned as a late substitute.
