Maï-Ndombe: Provincial Assembly demands withdrawal of order dissolving teachers’ inter-union committee

After hearing the parties on Friday, the Maï-Ndombe Provincial Assembly called for the withdrawal of an order by provincial Education Minister Justin Iyolo dissolving the provisional committee of the Maï-Ndombe 1 teachers’ inter-union. Lawmakers said the minister has no authority to dissolve a union and urged a peaceful resolution, as classes have been disrupted for about a month and a half. Assembly rapporteur Malachie Mpia Bokona said a delegation would travel to Kinshasa with the minister and the union president to seek a solution to reported salary irregularities. Teachers are demanding, among other things, their wages for December 2025 and January 2026.
