Malaria: Cameroonian researcher Christianne Donkeu Wamen makes a groundbreaking discovery

Christianne Donkeu Wamen earned her PhD in animal biology and physiology with research focused on cell adhesion proteins of the integrin type in Plasmodium falciparum. These poorly documented proteins may play a key role in how the parasite attaches to host cells, contributing to severe forms of malaria. The findings from her research, conducted at the Pasteur Center in Cameroon, could pave the way for new therapeutic and vaccine approaches against this endemic disease, which affects over two million people annually in Cameroon.
