Malawi: Former Finance Minister Simplex Chithyola Arrested

Former Malawi Finance Minister Simplex Chithyola was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of money laundering. He turned himself in to the police after learning he was wanted. Chithyola served as minister from 2023 to 2025 under former President Lazarus Chakwera and is currently the leader of the opposition in parliament. Other members of the Malawi Congress Party, the former ruling party, are also under investigation for corruption.

National Convention: ADC secures new venue
