Malawi: Woman Who Saw Chilima's Plane Go Down Claims She Was Threatened Into Silence

Flora Mkandawire, a community member from northern Malawi, testified before a parliamentary committee investigating the plane crash that killed former vice-president Saulos Chilima. She claimed she was threatened and that her two sons were taken by police after she reported the incident. Mkandawire observed the aircraft before it crashed in Chikangawa Forest and alerted a local teacher, but later feared for her safety, prompting her to remain silent.
