Mali: Goïta contradicts the IMF and announces much higher growth for 2026

Transition President Assimi Goïta announced that Mali's economic growth would reach 6.3% in 2026, surpassing the IMF's forecast of 5.5%. In his address to the Nation for the 66th independence anniversary, he also revealed that the GDP growth for 2025 was 5.6%, exceeding the IMF's anticipated 5%. Goïta attributed these results to a policy of mobilizing internal resources and emphasized the importance of transforming the mining sector for the national economy.
