Mammy Water, by Fada Oluoma

Fada Oluoma compares belief in mermaids, or “mammy water,” with a childhood song that mocked their power. He argues that smartphones can create images of mermaids and circulate stories of miracles or supernatural events that some users accept as proof. He says these devices also increase exposure to fraudsters who exploit religious credulity. Oluoma advises people not to believe beyond what their religion teaches, noting that Catholic beliefs are clearly defined.
