Man jailed for bottle throwing at Eastney migrant protest

A 42-year-old man, Del Somerville, was sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to throwing a bottle at police and swearing at officers during an anti-migrant protest in Portsmouth on September 6. He pleaded guilty to violent disorder at the city's crown court following the demonstration near Eastney Marina, which occurred after around 120 migrants were brought ashore. He explained he found the bottle on the ground and, in frustration, threw it into the air. Four other men are awaiting sentencing for violent disorder related to the protest.
