Manchester City whistleblower Rui Pinto to remain under police protection

Rui Pinto, the Portuguese hacker behind Football Leaks, will remain under police protection after providing evidence that Manchester City violated Premier League rules from 2009 to 2018. An independent commission found City guilty of nearly all 115 charges related to financial rule breaches. Pinto's protection, which was set to end on October 10, will be extended pending a new decision, following procedural irregularities and death threats he received. The 37-year-old was assaulted in Lisbon in April and has had to move to a secret location.
