Manchester United held at Leeds despite improved performance for Carrick

Manchester United ended a turbulent week with a 1-1 draw at Leeds, doing little to ease the pressure on manager Michael Carrick. United had won only two of nine matches in all competitions this season, and the club was still dealing with defender Lisandro Martinez’s criticism of its hierarchy after a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid. Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead in the 35th minute after a low pass from Youri Tielemans. Martinez was substituted at half-time, with Noussair Mazraoui coming on.
