Manchester United’s Carrick backs Fernandes ahead of Chelsea match

Under pressure after eight games without a win, Manchester United manager Michael Carrick said he was “here to do my job” and needed no assurances about his future. He backed captain Bruno Fernandes, who was left on the bench for the loss to Bournemouth after criticising Carrick’s tactics. United have won only two of 12 matches in all competitions this season and sit one point above the relegation zone after a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth. Carrick remains in charge and is expected to lead the team against Chelsea.
