Mapping: Lomé enlists Equal Earth creators to correct Africa's map

The creators of the Equal Earth map projection, Tom Patterson, Bernhard Jenny, and Bojan Šavrič, will provide their expertise to Togo and the African Union to implement the 'Correct the Map' resolution adopted by the UN on September 4, 2026. This initiative aims to use equal-area projections to accurately represent the sizes of continents. The Equal Earth projection, adopted by the African Union in February 2026, has been integrated into mapping tools used by NASA and Esri.
