“Matter concerning you”: Pape Alé Niang draws on his experience to applaud the measure

RTS director general Pape Alé Niang endorsed on X a circular from Justice Minister Me Moussa Sarr banning the phrase “matter concerning you” in police summonses. Investigators must now specify the nature of the case or alleged facts and state whether the person is summoned as a witness or victim. Niang recalled his own arrest at Allées Pape Guèye Fall, saying police could not explain why he was detained and later “invented a reason” after two days in custody. Dated November 3, 2026, the measure is intended to strengthen transparency and fairness in the justice system.
