Maurice Kamto resigns from the presidency of the MRC: the end of a months-long political standoff

Maurice Kamto announced his resignation from the presidency of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) in a letter published on September 8, 2026. He justified his decision by the greater interest of the party and its members. This resignation comes less than a year after his reappointment as head of the MRC during an extraordinary convention, which had already sparked internal tensions.
