Mauritania: Mokhtar Ould Djay Reappointed as Prime Minister

Mauritanian Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Dja was reinstated just hours after his resignation on Friday, following a report on August fires caused by electrical failures. The independent commission’s report highlighted serious shortcomings in prevention, electrical protection, supervision, and emergency management, linking these issues to three recently installed power lines. Overheating was identified as the most likely cause of the fires, with no evidence of sabotage or operational errors.
