Mbour: Carpenter sentenced for stealing a television to pay for his wife's childbirth

B. Mané, a metalworker and father of three, was sentenced to two months in prison for attempting to steal a television from a villa in Saly Niakh-Niakhal on October 24. The residence’s gardener caught him as he tried to leave with the television, and he was handed over to police before being detained at Mbour prison. In court, Mané said he planned to sell the television to pay for his wife’s hospitalization and impending childbirth, citing financial hardship and a shortage of customers. The prosecutor had sought a six-month prison sentence.
