MI5 warns UK academics to cut ties with Chinese group over alleged spying

MI5 alleges that CGTRI funds research at UK universities to enhance espionage capabilities, targeting over 100 researchers in fields such as AI and cybersecurity. The UK government has instructed university leaders to end these relationships, warning of prosecution under the National Security Act of 2023. Beijing has not responded to the allegations.
