Mines: Baraza Mining 2026 Opens Debate on Challenges of Sector Industrialization

Public authorities, mining operators, investors, and experts gathered on June 11, 2026 in Yaoundé for the second edition of Baraza Mining Forum, dedicated to developing a competitive and sustainable mining industry in Cameroon. After a first edition in 2025, organizers aim to make this an annual platform for reflection, as several projects in iron, bauxite, and gold move toward exploitation. Organizers stated that Cameroon's mining potential can only be realized by lifting structural constraints: transport infrastructure, energy access, financing, governance, transparency, local content, and industrial transformation. Landry Djimpé, partner at Innogence Consulting and co-organizer, said the main challenge is no longer just geological but also logistical and financial.
