Ministers Spend Billions to Secure Appointments, APC Spokesman Alleges

Alwan Hassan, spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, accused some ministers of paying billions of naira to secure appointments and then seeking to recoup the money. Speaking on Arise News, he said the practice predated the APC administration and questioned ministers’ role in implementing budgets. Hassan also defended Bola Tinubu’s record on electricity, citing more than ₦4 trillion approved for meters and financing support for civil servants to buy solar systems. Looking ahead to 2027, he said government projects in the North—including renovations to 287 primary schools and more than 4,000 classrooms—could help Tinubu win votes in Bauchi and Kano.
