Court restrains FRSC from enforcing traffic rules on Kano State roads

A Federal High Court in Kano has ruled that officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have no legal authority to carry out enforcement on state and local government roads in Kano. Justice M. S. Shuaibu held that the officers' actions in July 2025, stopping and questioning motorists without any traffic offence, violated constitutional rights to personal liberty and freedom of movement. Lawyer Abba Hikima, who filed the case after being stopped without cause, secured a permanent injunction restraining FRSC from such actions. The court also ordered the commission to publish a public apology and pay Hikima N800,000 in damages and costs.

Police, Customs to conduct live shooting exercises in Kano - Daily Post Nigeria

The Kano State Police Command has announced that the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Customs Service Training College will hold separate live-ammunition shooting exercises at Hawan Kalibawa in Dawakin Tofa LGA. The police exercise is on July 18, 2026, from 6am to 6pm, and the Customs exercise from July 20 to 23, 2026, also 6am-6pm daily. Residents of nearby communities are advised to avoid the shooting range and not to panic upon hearing gunshots.
