Missing $6.2m Buhari election fund: SERAP gives CBN seven days to explain

SERAP has demanded that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) account for the missing $6.23 million in election funding linked to a request allegedly made by former President Muhammadu Buhari, as well as over N1.63 trillion in missing public funds. The 2023 Auditor-General’s report revealed unrecovered intervention loans to states, loans to distressed banks, and funds under the Anchor Borrowers Programme. SERAP calls for transparency on how these funds were spent, the beneficiaries, and recovery plans.
