Missing middle: The essential technicians left out of Africa’s food system

Africa needs to focus on developing technical skills to improve its food system. Approximately 15 million Kenyans face food insecurity, with 30 to 40 percent of food lost between production and consumption. Losses in Kenya's avocado sector are lower in export markets due to stronger aggregation and logistics systems. To reduce food loss, it is crucial to strengthen the ecosystem around cold chain services and storage.
