Mkhwanazi turns tables on Mapiyeye in EMPD hiring storm

Suspended Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department deputy chief Julius Mkhwanazi told the Madlanga Commission that his boss, suspended police chief Isaac Mapiyeye, may have lied about the recruitment and promotion of senior officials. Mapiyeye accused Mkhwanazi of pushing through over 55 appointments without his consent, but Mkhwanazi stated that the recruitment process was initiated by Mapiyeye. He emphasized that all correct procedures were followed during the promotions.
