Mobile money: Small free money transfers starting November 2

Starting November 2, 2026, domestic interbank money transfers up to 8,000 FCFA per user and participant will be free, with no limit on the number of transactions. Transfers exceeding this amount may incur fees between 0% and 0.8%. The reform applies to transfers between bank accounts, microfinance institutions, electronic money, and payment institutions, and will extend to cross-border transfers within UEMOA from June 1, 2027. The interoperable PI-SPI platform, with 175 participants, supports these transactions for over 38 million people in the UEMOA zone.
