Moldova’s president nominates businessman Vasile Tofan as prime minister

Moldovan President Maia Sandu nominated financier Vasile Tofan, 44, as prime minister. Tofan, with no prior government experience, is tasked with restoring public trust and advancing Moldova's EU accession by the end of 2028. He has 15 days to present a governing program and cabinet to parliament. Tofan said reviving the economy and securing EU membership are top priorities.
