Mombasa-Nairobi Highway Among Most Dangerous Roads in Mombasa, Report

The Mombasa–Nairobi Road has been identified as one of the most dangerous roads in Mombasa County, according to the 2025 Road Safety Report, which also listed other high-risk routes. Despite a 15% decline in crashes and serious injuries in 2025 compared to 2024, 84 people died, with vulnerable road users like pedestrians and motorcyclists accounting for a large proportion of fatalities. Speeding was cited as the leading cause of crashes, and local officials are calling for stronger safety measures to sustain progress.
