Monarch’s murder: Nwifuru seeks the death penalty for kidnappers

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru said an executive bill had been sent to the State House of Assembly to make kidnapping punishable by death, with no alternative sentence. He spoke at the funeral of Eze Francis Igwe, the traditional ruler of Ndufu-Alike, who was abducted on March 1 while travelling to church and reportedly killed the following day. Nwifuru pledged to implement any court decision against those arrested over the killing and said the proposed law was intended to deter kidnappings. Former governors, Anyim Pius Anyim and family members paid tribute to Igwe, praising his leadership and contributions to education and his community.
