Kelsea Tafirenyika, the daughter-in-law of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, was arrested in early August in Harare with vials of pethidine, morphine, and cannabis joints. After being released on bail, she was re-arrested on money laundering charges related to luxury cars and properties in Zimbabwe, Dubai, and South Africa. Her mother, sister, and another associate were detained while attempting to leave the country with $53,000 in cash, which authorities deemed suspicious.
