Kenyan MPs have rejected amendments aimed at granting the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner General sweeping powers, including asset seizures. The Finance and National Planning committee also refused to include weekends and public holidays in computing timelines for filing tax objections and appeals. Additionally, the committee proposed extra protections for taxpayers, requiring KRA to disclose its sources of third-party data and allowing taxpayers to reject or amend pre-populated tax claims.
