MPs Clash Over Ksh1 Billion State House Allocation in Supplementary Budget

The Kenyan National Assembly engaged in a heated debate over Supplementary Estimates II for the 2025/26 financial year, with MPs divided over allocations to State House and the Office of the Deputy President. Suba South MP Caroli Omondi challenged the allocations, including Ksh1 billion for State House, Ksh200 million for the Deputy President, and Ksh3.5 billion for the National Intelligence Service, alleging the funds are used for political campaigning. Committee Chair Gabriel Tongoyo defended the spending as justified and necessary for government operations. The approved supplementary budget increases the national budget by Ksh18.24 billion less than two weeks before the end of the financial year.
