MPs Put Universities, Colleges on Notice Over Use of Public Funds

Kenyan MPs have issued a warning to universities and colleges, demanding comprehensive explanations on the use of public funds. The National Assembly’s Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education began reviewing Auditor-General’s reports for the 2018/19 to 2024/25 financial years. Committee chairperson Dick Maungu and MP Boyd Were emphasized accountability and warned against treating audit queries as a routine exercise. Institutions including Multimedia University, Jomo Kenyatta Foundation, and several technical colleges appeared before the committee.
