Murder of UK politician Ann Widdecombe was ‘targeted attack’, police say

British counterterrorism police said the murder of politician Ann Widdecombe, who was found dead at her home in Devon last week, was a targeted attack. A white British man was arrested and later rearrested on suspicion of terrorism offenses. Widdecombe, 78, was a member of Reform UK and a former Conservative MP. The investigation is ongoing.

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore described the arrest of the self-acclaimed Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, as 'the biggest cover-up ever.' Sowore alleged that the arrest and reported dehumanisation of Adeyemi suggest an official cover-up rather than a genuine search for truth, and called for the arrest and investigation of President Tinubu's Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. He further claimed that the individual alleged to have collected a ₦400 million bribe on Gbajabiamila's behalf has died under mysterious circumstances, and the hotel used for the transaction has been demolished. Adeyemi was arrested after a warrant was issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja on charges of forgery, fraud, and impersonation.
