Mutiny in Niger: Burkina Faso and Mali Call for Strengthening of the AES

Burkina Faso and Mali called for strengthening the Sahel States Confederation (AES) following a mutiny attempt in Niamey on August 28-29, 2026. A joint delegation led by General Célestin Simporé met with Niger's President Abdourahamane Tiani to discuss the situation.
