Mutiny in Niger: Tebboune Explains Sending Fighter Jets

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune stated that the deployment of military aircraft to Niger following the mutiny in Niamey aimed to support Nigerien authorities against a coup attempt. He noted that the fact that Niger’s Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine was in Algeria during the mutiny could be seen as a provocation. Prior to this, Algeria had sent four helicopters in August and later four Sukhoï Su-30 fighter jets in late August upon Niger’s request.
