Mwenga: clashes between AFC/M23 and FARDC supported by Wazalendo at Point Zero

Violent clashes erupted on August 28, 2026, between AFC/M23 rebels and FARDC, supported by Wazalendo, in the Point Zero area of Mwenga territory. The fighting began around 4 a.m. in the high plateaus of the Itombwe sector. The security situation remains tense, with major risks for civilian populations. Point Zero, a strategic site, was taken by AFC/M23 on July 4.
