Myanmar: 11 civilians, including an infant, killed in military airstrike

A military airstrike killed at least 11 civilians around 2 p.m. Friday in a village controlled by the People’s Defence Forces (PDF) in Yesagyo township, southwest of Mandalay. The victims included six women and two children, among them a one-year-old girl, as well as an 11-year-old student riding a bicycle. A witness said three houses were completely destroyed and that nine of the victims had been buried by Saturday morning. According to the Acled NGO, more than 100,000 people have been killed since the 2021 military coup and the start of Myanmar’s civil war.
