Amnesty International Calls for Strengthening the Fight Against Impunity and Access to Justice in DRC

Amnesty International called for increased efforts to combat impunity and improve access to justice in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its deputy regional director for East and Southern Africa, Flavia Mwangovya, met with Justice Minister Guillaume Ngefa in Kinshasa to discuss serious crimes in the eastern part of the country, especially in zones controlled by AFC/M23. The organization presented findings on human rights violations, including deaths, torture, forced recruitment, and resource exploitation, emphasizing that impunity fuels ongoing conflicts. The government expressed its commitment to prosecuting perpetrators regardless of their nationality or status.
