Forest Protection: The Government Strengthens SODEFOR's Operational Capabilities

On October 1, 2026, Ivorian Minister of Water and Forests, Jacques Assahoré, distributed equipment including 145 motorcycles, 140 helmets, 14 vehicles, 60 GPS devices, and 31 tricycles to regional forest and water authorities and agents fighting illegal gold panning. The aim is to enhance mobility and detection capabilities to better monitor and protect forests. Assahoré emphasized that while the resources are limited compared to the needs, they mark a beginning in improving working conditions and combating illegal activities like deforestation and illegal logging in Ivory Coast.
