On October 14, 2026, Abomey Mayor Mètolé Franck Kpassassi received a French delegation led by Laure Weisgerber, the French Development Agency’s director in Benin, to review projects supported by the agency. Discussions focused on the Museum of Memory and Arts of Danxomè and the IFAN institute in Abomey, as well as a tourism strategy to promote the royal city’s tangible and intangible heritage. Kpassassi presented his guests with an Amazon warrior statuette, while French deputy Guillaume Bigot awarded him the Medal of Honor of the French National Assembly.
