Nasarawa govt shuts tomato market over sanitation violations

The Nasarawa State Government has shut down the Kasuwan Tomato Market in Lafia due to repeated violations of environmental sanitation rules. Commissioner for Environment, Dr Margaret Elayo, stated that traders continued to improperly dispose of waste and displayed vegetables on bare ground, posing a public health risk. The market will remain closed for two days, and the situation will be reviewed on Monday.
