National Assembly: Seized by Diomaye, the Constitutional Council has just made its decision

The Constitutional Council issued its decision No. 8/C/2026 on September 7, 2026, regarding the organic law amending Article 118 of the National Assembly's internal regulations. It declared the President of the Republic's referral to be constitutional but censored certain provisions related to the loss of parliamentary mandate, particularly the one stipulating loss of mandate after absence from ten consecutive plenary sessions. Other provisions were deemed compliant, subject to interpretation regarding absences of deputies elected abroad.
