National flag handover to Senegalese athletes for Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games postponed

The ceremony to hand the national flag to Senegal’s delegation for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, scheduled for Saturday in Guéréo with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has been postponed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The delay does not affect preparations for the 136 athletes, who are already based at the Guéréo sports complex in the Thiès region, where they will stay during training and competition. Senegal will compete in 23 sports at the Games, which run from October 31 to November 13 in Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly. About 2,700 athletes are expected at the first Youth Olympic Games to be held in Africa.
