Natural Gas Buses: How Senegal Found Itself at the Center of a War Between Europe and China

Dakar has emerged as a new battleground for economic competition between the European Union and China over a market for 380 compressed natural gas buses, valued at 320 million euros, or about 210 billion FCFA. This strategic contract comes amid the rising power of the Chinese group CRRC, while European manufacturers are already weakened by the loss of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
