Navi Pillay: ‘Justice is integral to peace’ after Nobel Peace Prize win

Navi Pillay, South African lawyer and international law advocate, was awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts promoting peace, justice, and international law. At 85, she emphasized that lasting peace cannot be achieved without justice and the rule of law, despite criticism from Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu. She described her reaction to the award as one of surprise and deep honor, highlighting her lifelong work against war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. The award ceremony took place in Nuremberg during the 2026 Nuremberg Forum, at the historic site of the Nuremberg Trials.
