NECO: 58.67% of candidates scored five credits including English and Mathematics as malpractice drops

The National Examinations Council, NECO, announced that 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67% of those who sat the 2026 SSCE, obtained at least five credits including English and Mathematics. Registrar Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi stated that 1,378,048 candidates registered, with 1,371,992 sitting for the exam, and noted a 63.8% decrease in malpractice cases from 2025, down to 1,406. He also mentioned that 1,334 candidates with special needs participated, and the results were thoroughly verified to ensure integrity.
