NECO warns against fake supervisor recruitment portals

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has warned the public about fraudsters operating fake online recruitment portals for examination supervisors. NECO clarified that it does not demand any payment from teacher applicants and that the recruitment process is fully electronic with no third-party involvement. Over 22,000 supervisors will be recruited for the 2026 SSCE Internal examination, scheduled to start on June 15, 2026.

Fresh controversy has erupted in Obilonu Autonomous Community in Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, following the alleged conferment of chieftaincy titles by the traditional ruler, Eze L.O. Uche, despite a restraining order issued by an Abia State High Court. The order, issued on December 17, 2025, by Justice Enyinnaya Okezie, restrained Eze Uche and two others from bestowing titles pending the determination of a substantive application. The applicant, Emeka Chukwunenye, expressed concern that the ruler disobeyed the order. In response, Eze Uche claimed that the court order was not properly served within the mandated five-day period and that he never received any official document.

Sudan: Victims file complaint against RSF in Kenya

On Tuesday, victims of alleged atrocities related to the war in Sudan asked Kenyan prosecutors to investigate allegations of torture and sexual violence by members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This is the first attempt to prosecute RSF members outside Sudan. The paramilitary group, accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity, has ties with the Kenyan government.
