Nepal avalanche kills at least 15 expedition workers

An avalanche in the Himalayas killed at least 15 expedition workers at the base camp of Himlung Peak, located at 7,126 meters in central Nepal. Rescuers recovered eight more bodies, bringing the total to 15, and plan to airlift the bodies to Kathmandu. The avalanche occurred early Sunday morning while Nepali workers were setting up tents and fixing ropes for future expeditions. Rescue teams also recovered the bodies of two mountain guides and two kitchen staff, with efforts ongoing to find a missing worker whose chances of survival are slim.
