NESG: Tinubu says Nigeria is rewriting its story of under-performance

President Bola Tinubu said his economic reforms aim to end decades of Nigeria’s under-performance by removing structural barriers and delivering jobs and shared prosperity. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the opening of the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit Group in Abuja, he described a difficult economic reset as necessary for stability and growth. Tinubu also called for better-quality jobs, lower underemployment and investment measured by its contribution to productivity and job creation. He cited National Bureau of Statistics figures showing inflation-adjusted GDP growth of 3.89% in the first quarter of 2026.
