Netanyahu or Eisenkot? Can you form Israel’s next coalition government?

After Israel’s October 27 election, neither camp appears to have a clear mandate, and the next government will have to be formed by a coalition. Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud led the initial count as the largest single party, with 27 seats; Netanyahu’s bloc was projected at 54 seats against 50 for Gadi Eisenkot’s bloc. The four election-night exit polls showed a close contest, ranging from a 51–51 tie to 55 seats for Netanyahu’s bloc and 49 for the opposition. A government needs at least 61 of the Knesset’s 120 seats, and parties must clear the 3.25 percent threshold to enter parliament.

As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says only 21,528 of the 460,011 additional voters registered in Abia State have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), about 4.7%. Abia Resident Electoral Commissioner Professor Sylvia Agu said the cards were arriving in batches and that the collection figure was current as of October 22, 2026. The state had 2,620,151 registered voters, compared with 2,180,140 in 2023, while updated figures for Imo and Ebonyi have not yet been released. The South-East has 11,976,218 registered voters, or 11.58% of Nigeria’s register, the lowest share among the six geopolitical zones.
